They are one of the oldest dog breeds very closely related to the wolf [link] They look a LOT like short haired Border Collies in many respects but the dead give away is the tail, which curls similar to that of an Akita.

Ah, not heard of them. I can't say they look anything like border collies in my opinion!

Yep, very old breed and yes, they look a LOT like smooth coat border collies. Smooth coat border collie [link] and my pooch [link] and [link] Same identical size and features between the breeds. being a rare breed, Canaan's are confused a lot with BC's.

Face shape looks very very different to me. I'm pretty sure I would not confuse them :/

Actually the face shape is dead on the money in many ACD's and BCs, heh you should see mine standing next to a short haired BC, pretty impossible besides that tail
